The first announcements for Kilkenny Arts Festival 2024 have been made, to include two performances by Chamber Choir Ireland this year.
We are thrilled to join forces with Crash Ensemble for the Irish Premiere of Jóhann Jóhannsson’s Drone Mass in the iconic St. Canice’s Cathedral, as part of the festival’s opening weekend. The late Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson was a singular talent, as celebrated for his theatre and film scores (including Arrival and Sicario) as for his orchestral work, and Drone Mass is his defining work.
The following night, Chamber Choir Ireland will perform an enthralling programme of music both sacred and secular, including works by Schubert and Brahms, and Ligeti’s iconic Lux Aeterna, made famous by Stanley Kubrick’s film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
